Final Fantasy 9: Festival of the Hunt

As you may or may not know, I've never played FF9 before now. I just finished the Festival of the Hunt and walked a bit to pick up Quina. I'm not reading any strategy/spoilers as I go, but I figure that due to Dissidia and FFRK, most of the main plot beats I already am vaguely aware of. What I want to write about real quick is the Festival of the Hunt, and how FF9 pulled off this weird out of nowhere event in the plot so much better than 7 and 8 do when they stray from the main plot. So, spoilers ahead for 7, 8 and 9.

Grub Hub Deserves This Fallout

So, Grub Hub's CEO has sent out two press releases. The one at the bottom there is then attempted to be walked back by the one at the top.

When asked, Grub Hub sent me a stock reply, because I was wondering what they'd do now that a CEO had insulted about 50% of the country and told them they weren't welcome at Grub Hub any more. Their response was:

Election 2016: One Upside

CNBC reports that Trump spent about half as much as Clinton to win the White House.

If nothing else, maybe this will help get money out of politics. There used to be an assumption that X dollars transferred into Y votes, and so people would do whatever it took to raise money and throw it out there.

Now though, we see that retail politicking [whether you agree with Trump or not -- that's essentially how he got his message out. Rally after rally, speech after belabored, rambling speech], if done strategically, can even knock out the Clinton machine.

Now, part of this credit undoubtedly goes to Kellyanne Conway [I think that's how you spell her name; I've only ever really heard it], who is, maybe, officially a political miracle worker. Even more credit, maybe, goes to Clinton's unwillingness to hold those same sorts of rallies and rely on a more traditional money to votes strategy.

Either way, politicians, on both sides, might benefit our whole electoral process if they look at Trump's strategy and think: "Maybe I don't need that much money."

CNN Should Not Host a Debate in 2020

Semi-political thought for the day.

CNN run debates have been terrible for almost a decade. During the 2007/8 cycle, they had "undecided, ordinary Republican voters" who, if you bothered to Google their names/YouTube pages, turned out to be a veteran working on Clinton's campaign, a woman working on the Edwards campaign, a "Log Cabin Republican" who had publicly declared he would vote for Obama before the debate, a staffer for a D- Senator, and a "Ron Paul" voter who had actually declared for Bill Richardson. And, pretty much every debate since then where they had "undecided, ordinary Republican voters," you can find similar examples -- though very few were as blatant as the first set.

Now we find out that they allowed one of their commentators to cheat by passing along a question during a debate, and it took TWO instances of it before they did anything about it.

Knowing CNN's utter incompetence at running debates: Why do Republicans keep letting them run them? I'm not saying that Republicans should only have Fox run the presidential debates -- but come on. Let CBS or NBC or ABC or anyone who hasn't deliberately sabotaged/allowed the process to be sabotaged for a decade have a shot at it.

Design Problems With Legion/MMOs in General

Not even a few weeks into Legion's release, normals were no longer relevant content. At this point, if not at the same time, Heroics were no longer relevant content. As it is, for players who started on release day and pushed, regular Mythics are no longer relevant either. Which leads to players complaining they have nothing to do, and developers complaining that players blow through their content too quickly.

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Great Game, Bad Ending

I know I'm a few years behind, but I just finished this game, and I feel like the ending... I don't want to say is terrible, but I just don't get it. From the title, you should be able to guess that there are spoilers for the ending of the game. So, don't click if you don't want to be spoiled.

I Want to Like FF14, But...

I want to like FF14, but it has all sorts of little annoyances common to most JRPG/FF games. Multiple confirmation windows. Multiple loading screens between areas. But, the last quest chain is probably the worst example.
